Hawaii Theatre Young Actors Ensemble is a pre-professional training program for students who are serious about learning advanced acting techniques; this is not a drama club. The program is led by HTC education director and Po‘okela Award-winning actress Eden Lee Murray. Students meet Tuesdays/Thursdays, Sept – May, 4:30 – 6:30pm to receive instruction in acting, voice and movement technique, to learn professional rehearsal protocols and etiquette, and to rehearse and perform a full Shakespeare production at the Hawaii Theatre in the Spring. The 2016 production will be Othello, Shakespeare’s great tragedy of the Moor who “loved not wisely but too well.”  The program also includes master classes with top local theatre professionals.

Auditions for the 2015 – 2016 Ensemble will be held June 8, July 20 and August 10, all at 4:30pm, onstage at the Hawaii Theatre.  For the audition, students should prepare a monologue between 1 and 2 minutes long from any published play. They also should bring contact information for a teacher or director with whom they have recently worked. Students wishing to audition must register ahead of time by calling 791-1323, or emailing edenleemurray@hawaiitheatre.com

This program runs Sept – May. Students interested in applying for an HTC Technical Theatre apprenticeship must interview for their discipline of choice before the end of August:  call 791-1323 or email edenleemurray@hawaiitheatre.com
