Worldwide ukulele phenom and Hawai’i favorite, Jake Shimabukuro, has taken the four-string, two-octave instrument to places no one has gone before, garnering innumerable fans through his soulful recordings, virtuoso Live performances and contagiously positive persona. This night promises to be particularly special – Jake’s first annual performance 100% dedicated to celebrating his music, ohana and beloved hometown of Honolulu. Jake will stand alone on stage accompanied by only his ukulele and a few friends for the sole Hawai’i performance of his “Grand Ukulele Tour.”

The tour is in support of the October 2nd release of Jake’s most ambitious album to date, “Grand Ukulele,” produced by Alan Parsons (The Beatles, Pink Floyd) with orchestration by Kip Winger. Early reviews have gushed about the recording, proclaiming it’s poised to “redefine the ukulele itself”. The “Grand Ukulele Tour” will see Jake hit the road hard starting in Japan before returning to the States and literally traversing from coast to coast – with over 30 shows spanning from Florida to Oregon. Anticipation for the album and tour is high with many shows already sold out.

Jake’s jam-packed fall schedule is yet another example of his supreme commitment to his instrument and craft. That unwavering approach over the past 10+ years, combined with Jake’s rich talent, has made him an inspiration to so many. It’s also opened countless doors with Jake performing alongside everyone from Lady Gaga, to Bette Midler, Les Paul, Diana Krall, Yo Yo Ma and Jimmy Buffett and igniting his ukulele for the likes of the Queen of England, Good Morning America, Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel and more. And at no time in the recent past has the ukulele been more popular or prevalent in music.

While we rejoice in Jake’s many accomplishments, we are equally thrilled to see him spend Thanksgiving at home and cap the holiday by gathering friends and family for a wonderful night of celebration. What better place to do so than at the historic Hawai’i Theatre as it celebrates its 90th year of creating magical moments.

  • “The moment he takes the stage is the moment you witness just how totally  dominating he’s been in redefining the instrument.” – Dr. Sanjay  Gupta, CNN’s The Next List

  • “Leading a ukulele renaissance.” – PBS NewsHour
