Miss Vamp Hawaii is a beauty pageant created in 2010 by DJ Nocturna and produced yearly by DJ Nocturna and Lana Saldania at the historic Hawaii Theatre. Similar to other pageants, it features the traditional Q&A portion, a gown/costume competition, crowning the winners with sashes, trophies and prizes. However, unique to this pageant, Miss Vamp Hawaii features a “Moon Bathing Lingerie Competition,” honoring the moon and everything it stands for, which differs from the traditional bathing suit competition that other beauty pageants have.
This pageant is unique because it takes the concept of “Vampires” a symbol of timelessness and passion that never dies. As we go through life, growing older should never be a factor to hinder growth, development and dreams. Miss Vamp Hawaii is open to all women ranging from 18 years of age and older who can compete together on stage in a unique theatre setting. It’s for all women, regardless of body type, weight, height and age. It celebrates all women from all walks of life, subcultures, various backgrounds, nationalities and interest. Who could ever imagine vampire beauties living in Hawaii where the sun shines? Miss Vamp Hawaii embraces love and beauty- that it’s never too late for any woman to showcase their talent. This pageant was created especially for women who may not necessarily feel they belong in traditional beauty pageants because they are unique in their interests and in their passion for living. Like most traditional beauty pageants that have restrictions, pageant rules that contestants must adhere to certain height, weight and age, Miss Vamp Hawaii believes that “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” and all women are beautiful and inner beauty accentuates outer beauty.
Going on its 4th year, DJ Nocturna and Lana Saldania recently launched the Miss Vamp Hawaii reality show, which airs every Saturday night at 10:30 PM on KFVE (channel 5). View website here:
