The Hawaii Theatre Center celebrates the work of film director Tim Burton, king of the creep factor, in a spooky prelude to Halloween. The three-day festival will include arts, crafts and special entertainment, as well as a themed costume contest for each of the four screenings.
In this animated tale set in the Victorian era, Victor Van Dort (Johnny Depp), the son of wealthy merchants, and Victoria Everglot (Emily Watson), the neglected daughter of snobbish aristocrats, are preparing for their arranged marriage. After a series of pre-wedding missteps, Victor runs to the quiet of the forest to practice his wedding vows. Here, instead, he encounters a ghost bride, murdered on her wedding night, who through Victor’s inadvertence, now claims she is his bride. He is spirited away to the land of the dead, all the while planning and dreaming of his return to his true beloved, Victoria. (2005) Run Time: 1h 18m
