Take a trip back in time and experience Hawaii’s historic past!

The Hawaii Theatre opened as a showplace for vaudeville, silent films, plays, musicals, and Hawaiian entertainments. It slowly evolved into a plush movie palace until it fell on hard times in the 1970s, when Waikiki became the entertainment destination for locals and tourists alike.

In the 1980s, concerned citizens banded together around the mission to preserve and restore the the Hawaii Theatre and formed the Hawaii Theatre Center, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that owns and operates the historic Hawaii Theatre.

The Hawaii Theatre hosts approximately 100,000 patron annually showcasing the finest in local, national, and international entertainments. The Hawaii Theatre is listed on both the State of Hawaii and National Historic Registers.

The one-hour Hawaii Theatre tour features a docent-led tour of the Hawaii Theatre featuring its history, architecture, artwork and importance to the community. As a finale, tour patrons are presented with a 15-minute introduction to the historic Hawaii Theatre Pipe Organ, complete with a mini-concert.

Tickets for the tours are available from the Hawaii Theatre Box Office. Hawaii Theatre Box Office accepts cash and major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, JCB, and UnionPay.

Tours are not recommended for toddlers. No elevator access to second level. All visitors must be accompanied by a guide.
