Teachers are encouraged to bring students to the Hawaii Theatre’s Student Matinee presentation of Shakespeare’s famous tragedy, Julius Caesar, featuring the talented members of
this year’s Hawaii Pacific University’s Young Actors Ensemble company, comprised of gifted high school actors from across O`ahu.

Because Julius Caesar is one of the Shakespeare plays included in standard DOE high school curriculum, a Study Guide has been created to help as a classroom supplement for those who will teach the play in the future. Please feel free to share this Study Guide with other teachers. It will be helpful to cover some of the content before the performance, specifically the synopsis, the characters, and the concept of this particular production. Some content is more appropriate for classroom discussion after you and your students have experienced our Julius Caesar firsthand.

This Study Guide is to help you and your students get as much as possible from your experience of this play, and your upcoming adventure at the Hawaii Theatre.

Hawaii Theatre Center’s educational programming is sponsored in part by ABC Stores; Atherton Family Foundation; The Bretzlaff Foundation; Friends of Hawaii Charities; Hawaii Hotel Industry Foundation and the Hawaii Lodging & Tourism Association; Macy’s; Matson; McInerny Foundation; Samuel N. and Mary Castle Foundation; the family of Starwood Hotels in Waikiki including the Royal Hawaiian, Moana Surfrider, Sheraton Waikiki and Princess Kaiulani; State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (SFCA), through appropriations from the Legislature of the State of Hawaii, or grants from the National Endowment for the Arts; and the G. N Wilcox Trust.
