SUGAR RAY AND THE BLUETONES have been captivating audiences with their unique style of blues for almost forty years. An eclectic mix of styles, their repertoire includes Chicago blues in the style of Muddy Waters, Kansas City swing, Texas blues, and Louisiana swamp blues. Recently nominated by the Blues Foundation for Blues Band of the Year, this is the first time the band will play in Hawaii. Over the years, members of Sugar Ray and the Bluetones have received numerous accolades for their versatility and musicianship: the band was the recipient of five Blues Music Awards in 2012 and their latest release “Living Tear to Tear” garnered seven Blues Music Awards. Collectively, members of the Bluetones have also been nominated seven times by the Recording Academy (Grammy’s) for their musical works.

Members of Sugar Ray and the Bluetones include band leader Sugar Ray Norcia on vocals and harmonica, the driving force since the band’s inception,  lead guitarist “Monster” Mike Welch, one of the East-Coast’s best loved blues guitarists, Anthony Geraci at the piano and Hammond Organ, Michael “Mudcat” Ward on acoustic and electric bass, and Neil Gouvin on drums.

Don’t miss this fabulous blues band in their debut performance at Hawaii Theatre Center!
