pARTners in the Arts is a first-of-its-kind program developed by the Hawaii Theatre Center to ensure ongoing accessibility to the arts for dozens of Hawaii nonprofit organizations, ranging from schools and universities to dance groups and community service providers.
Many of the performances you enjoy at the Theatre are spearheaded by nonprofit organizations in Hawaii, and they need our help. pARTners in the Arts was established to cover operating expenses for up to 25 Hawaii nonprofit organizations to hold performances and events at the Theatre over the next year.
It costs more than $10,000 to open the theatre for one evening. As a nonprofit, we rely on the generosity of our supporters to offset the remaining operating expenses not covered by ticket proceeds.
pARTners in the Arts is a new way for you to directly support nonprofit performances. They continue to perform, and you continue to enjoy – all while benefiting those doing our communities the greatest good.
Your part to play
Click below to make a secure, one-time or recurring tax-deductible donation of your choice to directly support the Theatre’s pARTners in the Arts program. (Mahalo!) We will send you an optional survey if you would like to identify Hawaii nonprofits who may benefit from involvement in the program, and we encourage you to spread the word to others.
Your tax-deductible donation helps in several ways:
- It keeps our daily operating expenses in the black.
- It allows local nonprofits to enjoy a world-class venue for their performances.
- It benefits all of Chinatown and Downtown Honolulu. We are Chinatown’s largest economic driver, with up to 180 show days per year.
- Nearly all of our guests (95 percent) are kama‘aina.
An estimated 34,000 patrons and $3.3 million in economic activity for the Chinatown area will be generated from events supported by pARTners in the Arts. Your contribution will impact thousands of students, performers, patrons and organizations in Hawaii.
