At this one of a kind virtual event, the talented Kapena, Na Wai, The Tonga Sisters and Lina Girl Langi will join HI H.O.P.E.S youth leaders as they share their heartfelt and inspiring FYA talks. FYA Talks (FYA pronounced "fiyah" or "fire") were first presented by the HI H.O.P.E.S. Youth Leadership Board members in 2016 at the `Ohana is Forever annual conference. These presentations, from the perspective of young people that have first hand experience living in foster care, are honest, insightful and inspirational. Designed to "spark ideas and ignite change" within the foster care system and in the lives of those who experience foster care, the youth leaders are proud to share their stories with you through this virtual celebration. The HI H.O.P.E.S youth leaders have served as voices of advocacy and hope over the last eleven years in Hawai'i and have certainly sparked ideas, passion, action, and ignited change and built a living legacy.
EPIC ‘Ohana’s HI H.O.P.E.S Initiative empowers foster youth between the ages of 14-26 statewide, building their resilience and effecting lifelong change for the individuals themselves and future foster youth. The initiative works to ensure that all youth and young adults who have experienced foster care in Hawai`i after the age of 14 have the relationships, resources and opportunities to ensure well being and success.
