HAWAII THEATRE PROGRAM
A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS & STRANGELOVE
PRESENTED BY MASTERCARD AND FIRST HAWAIIAN BANK
A Flock of Seagulls
A Flock of Seagulls, a pioneering band from the early '80s new wave scene, became iconic for their distinctive teased haircuts and synth-driven, dance-pop sound. Formed in 1980 by hairdresser Mike Score, his brother Ali, and fellow hairdresser Frank Maudsley, with guitarist Paul Reynolds joining later, the band quickly made a name for themselves. Their breakout single, "I Ran (So Far Away)," catapulted them into the spotlight after heavy MTV rotation in 1982. While they struggled to replicate their early success in the UK, they found continued success with hits like "Wishing (If I Had a Photograph of You)" and "Space Age Love Song." Despite lineup changes and a decline in popularity following a failed album in 1984 and eventual breakup, Mike Score reformed the band in 1989. They continued to tour and release new music, including their 1996 album The Light at the End of the World, maintaining their place in the hearts of new wave fans.
STRANGELOVE - The Depeche Mode Experience
STRANGELOVE - The Depeche Mode Experience is an immersive tribute band based in Los Angeles, known for delivering a highly authentic and engaging live performance that spans over 40 years of Depeche Mode’s iconic career.
